Hi everyone!
Arteza recently approached me to do an unbiased review of some of their products. Knowing that a lot of my Instagram followers regularly ask me about which watercolours or coloured pencil brands I would recommend, I thought I would grab this opportunity to give my opinion of their products. I also think it's a good chance for me to experiment and explore different art brands in the market.
Arteza sent me three products to review; a watercolour set, a coloured pencil set and a watercolour pad. I have made detailed reviews for each product so feel free to click on the links below to check them out.
But, if you're in a hurry, here is a quick summary for each of them.
These paints are a good value for the price and quantity they offer.
Pros
- They are very vibrant and pigmented, except for a few brown shades.
- They are good value.
- A little goes a long way.
- They reactivate well when dried.
- I love that they have a lot of green and blue shades included in the set.
- They have lots of pastel colours in the set.
Cons
- The colours are quite opaque.
- Most colours are easily lifted when dry.
- The paints are currently only available in a set and cannot be purchased individually.
- Paints crack and separate when dry.
- Some browns are chalky and not as vibrant as I would like them to be.
- I would like to see more shades of black and greys in the set.
I think that these coloured pencils like the watercolours are a good value for the price and quantity they offer.
Pros
- Vibrant colours.
- Affordable, with a good colour range for the price.
- Durable core: no breakage, able to hold pointed end even with heavy pressure.
- Good quality case and packaging.
Cons
- Some colours are not as smooth and soft as others.
- Some are waxy and difficult to blend or colour evenly.
- Not as opaque when used on coloured surfaces.
- The pencils are currently only available in a set and cannot be purchased individually.
I was impressed with the paper and that it performed better than I expected. I like the rough side and would probably use it for small quick paintings or coloured pencil sketches.
Pros
- Texture is good on the rough side.
- It holds pigments and water well.
- The textured side is also very good for coloured pencils.
- The price is reasonable.
- Rough side is sturdy and can take up masking fluid and multiple use of eraser.
Cons
- It warps easily with medium washes.
- The smooth side has lots of uneven/lumpy blemishes on the surface.
- The smooth side is not as sturdy as the rough side - couldn't take multiple use of an eraser.
